چکیده
M e t h o d s Data sources: Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, EMBASE/Excerpta Medica, DARE, NHSEED, and HTA (to December 2006); online registries of clinical trials; Web sites of the European Medicines Agency and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration; reference lists; and pharmaceutical companies. Study selection and assessment: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) ≥ 24 weeks in duration that compared long-acting insulin analogues (insulin glargine or insulin detemir) with NPH insulin, given subcutaneously, in adults with type 2 diabetes. In the case of combination therapy, the additional antihyperglycemic agent had to be used in both treatment groups. 9 RCTs (n = 4193, mean age range 55 to 62 y, 40% to 64% men) with a median duration of 26 weeks (range 24 to 52 wk) met the selection criteria. Outcomes: Incidence of overall, symptomatic, severe, and nocturnal hypoglycemia; and glycemic control (measured by hemoglobin A1c [HbA1c] level).

Long-acting insulin analogues versus NPH human insulin in type 2 diabetes: a meta-analysis.
BACKGROUND Long-acting insulin analogues, in comparison with NPH insulin, should warrant a greater reproducibility of absorption after subcutaneous injection, providing better metabolic control with reduced hypoglycaemic risk. Aim of the present meta-analysis is the assessment of differences with respect to HbA1c, incidence of hypoglycaemia, weight gain, between NPH human insulin and each long-...

AIM To perform a network meta-analysis between long-acting insulin analogues (glargine and detemir) and Neutral Protamine Hagedorn (NPH) insulin on adults with type 1 diabetes. METHODS A systematic review of the literature was conducted according to the Cochrane Collaboration guidelines. The search for randomized controlled trials was performed in process databases, conferences and "gray lite...

Background and Objectives: analogues insulin is similar to human insulin but have differences in cell structure that leading to differences in characteristics of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics. Methods: A systematic review of published studies between 2009 until June 2010 in Cochrane Library (CENTRAL and Cochrane Systematic Reviews), DARE, NHS EEDs, and CRD databases were searched....
متن کاملA review of human and analogue insulin trials.
A recent meta-analysis evaluated trials of the rapid-acting analogues insulin lispro and insulin aspart, performed before the introduction of the basal analogues, insulin glargine and insulin detemir. This article reviews the effect of rapid-acting and basal insulin analogues separately and in combination, relative to human insulin. Outcomes evaluated include HbA(1c), hypoglycaemia, postprandia...

UNLABELLED Aims/Introduction: Although long-acting insulin analogs are recommended in type 2 diabetics failing on oral agents, their efficacy is uncertain. Here we compared the efficacy and safety of regimens based on long-acting insulin analogs with other preparations in insulin-naïve type 2 diabetics failing on oral agents. MATERIALS AND METHODS Data from 9548 participants in 22 English ...
